Carroll Holiday Greeting Card 2006

Kris was charged with the task of creating a Flash-based holiday greeting card. The project was simple: Capture a check-listed set of elements that showcase Carroll, and construct a Flash movie. It was a great honor to create something that went out to thousands of alumni and friends on behalf of President Hastad.

Kris was approached to help with the production of the newly re-designed Carroll College Web site. His role was taking individual pages, breaking down the information that would be displayed, and creating a user-centered page.

While Kris was helping the redesign of the Carroll site, he was asked to develop a sort of virtual map. Using Flash, he came up with a working solution that loaded fast, was intuitive, and got the job done.

Elite Clubs Print Billboard and Advertisement Proposals

A promotion proposal to Elite Clubs of South Eastern Wisconsin, the pitch hinged on membership price would cost you less than a single consumption product a day (latte, for example). Smart, double-meaning marketing.

A duo-tone, grid creation, the Web site for DP3 Marketing has won over 6 online design awards. A splash of JavaScript and Flash enhance the PHP structure for easy updating and smooth presentation.

Focusing on the epicenter of design, CBE was built around the left column. All business profile information and imperative knowledge to pass on is accented there.

Easy Sign-Up Web Site

Knowing full well that the main interface pieces would be on the individual sign-up pages, ESU was built around visual cues. Error messages, phone numbers, and required fields are accented the most.

Lori Bauman Flash Web Site

Lori requested a Flash site to accent her artistic flair. Consequently, effects taking her work, re-tooling it in Photoshop, and applying blends and fades in Flash created a great background that made the rest of the site easy to work with.

Are of Exposure is a photography business that does incredible work. AoE focuses on weddings, which is very elegant. The design chosen matches the Victorian, elegant environment Tammy is in most of the time.

DP3 likes to promote the people working in the company, not just the company. An angle inspired by Bright Corner, these cards were designed to feature each employee with a short bio and his/her personal contact info on the back.

When DP3 used to focus more on the print industry, it serviced the auto dealers of South Western Wisconsin. To promote itself, two postcard mailers were designed to emphasize the benefits of marketing.

Cash Back Events is a side project of DP3. To get the word out, several types of print promotion were created, along with identity and collateral like business cards and letterhead.

Writing Examples

Along with designing and coding, Kris has done a substantial amount of writing. He has been involved at one time or another as an editor of a school newspaper, contributing column writer to various Web sites, detailing his capstone project, and writing lesson plans for a XHTML/CSS lecture series. Below you'll find some selected writing pieces. They vary from blog entries to an advertising campaign plansbook.

  • Advertising

    Working a group of five, Kris helped bring energy and creativity to the project. This PDF is the final copy of a plansbook proposal to the Waukesha Business Improvement District (BID). The BID were to take the campaign they felt was best, and actually implement it into their current advertising. His group received an A and won the competition.

    This was a final project for the Communications class on technology and its affects on society. It was a group project consisting of 5 members. Our group chose to examine social networks. Final grade: AB.

  • Economies of Developing Nations

    Politics303 was an exciting class on Globalization and Economies of Developing Nations. It was fascinating. The final paper due for the class was an extensive 20-page analysis of a topic of the student's choice. He chose The Commitment To Development Index (CDI) and how efficient it is at scoring developed nations. Final grade: 147/150 - A.

  • Book Review - Of Paradise And Power

    Robert Kagan is a well-known conservative author out of Washington DC. His book Of Paradise And Power is a comparison of American and European foreign policy. It was one of two books Kris was to review in his International Relations class (the other being Thomas Friedman's The World Is Flat). Final Grade: 29/30 - A.

Kris has been involved in the development process in over 18 Web sites with tasks ranging from the designing to the programming.
